FIRST RESPONDERS PROGRAM

  • The First Responder Program is an extension of the Emergency Medical System (EMS) in LLRIBHS outlying communities that do not have an ambulance base.
  • When a community member calls an ambulance, the dispatch center in Prince Albert, contacts a volunteer certified First Responder from the community to attend to emergency until EMS arrives.
  • In order to become a first responder one must complete a 50 hour training program.
  • In the outlying communities most of the Community Health Representatives have taken this training, along with community members
  • Updates are done yearly.
