Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) has a Van Based Agreement with Health Canada to provide and coordinate medical transportation for all registered band members (regardless of their band affiliation) in Lac La Ronge and outlying communities within the geographical area.
Medical Transportation provides the following services:
- La Ronge and Outlying Communities
1 MT Coordinator oversees the medical transportation unit and supervises the drivers and medical transportation clerks in all communities with the exception of Stanley Mission
- La Ronge and Area
2 MT Clerks, 4 MT Drivers are responsible for this area
2 MT Drivers for In-Town and Sucker River
2 MT Drivers rotate schedule for Out of Town appointments
1 MT Van to cover on-call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for on-call
There is a group of casual drivers to support the program
- Grandmother’s Bay and Hall Lake
1 MT Clerk from each community works half-time to coordinate medical transportation and works half-time to support as the clinic support clerk
MT Driver from each community drives clients to La Ronge daily for medical appointments
MT Driver from Hall Lake has to go into Sikachu and Clam Lake to pick clients
- Little Red River
1 MT Clerk works half-time to coordinate medical transportation and works half-time to support as the clinic support clerk
Health Canada contracts out to a private taxi company to pick up clients and take them to their medical appointments in the urban centres
- Stanley Mission
Operates independently and monies are flowed through to the Stanley Mission Health Centre
La Ronge Health Services supports the Health Centre and Medical Transportation
